IT DON'T WORRY ME

Atresbandes with Bertrand Lesca and Nasi Voutsas

UK online premiere

IT DON'T WORRY ME is a collaboration between the Catalan Company Atresbandes and the duo Bertrand Lesca and Nasi Voutsas. Together they interrogate the tension between art and political correctness.

We watch a supposedly ‘empty space’ which is analysed by two commentators in the room with us. But as the commentators become the commented on, theories and visual associations start to dominate everything, and the show spirals out of control, out of meaning, and out of context.

All the while three audience members dressed in the style of Robert Altman’s 1975 film Nashville thought they were coming to see a different show altogether. They each have confessions they would like to make…

This work was first shown internationally in Barcelona in January 2020.

Created and performed by Mònica Almirall, Bertrand Lesca, Miquel Segovia, Albert Pérez Hidalgo and Nasi Voutsas. Co-commissioned by HOME, GIFT, Teatre Lilure, Cambridge Junction, and supported through the Stobbs New Idea Fund. Atresbandes

Atresbandes is a performing arts company emerged from an artistic and personal meeting of minds between Mònica Almirall, Miquel Segovia and Albert Pérez Hidalgo. In 2008 we decided to form a company. As the group has grown and developed so have the methods we use to approach the act of creation.  Though influenced by an enormous variety of disciplines, our work is characterised by a single constant: advocacy for a theatre laboratory where the process of creation is paramount. We seek to question everything around us. This is the one thing that drives our approach to contemporary theatre.

Bertrand Lesca and Nasi Voutas

Bertrand Lesca and Nasi Voutsas are two performance makers. They are produced by Farnham Maltings and are Associate Artists with MAYK. Their work sits somewhere between live art and theatre, but if you held them against a wall, they would probably say its theatre.
