“Both insistently silly and unreservedly heart-rending"
The Guardian
THE END is a poignant and funny account of the ongoing climate catastrophe. In this new show, Bert and Nasi dance the end of their relationship, imagining what a future without each other might look like.
Above the stage and projected onto a screen, two parallel narratives run alongside each other: the end of the Earth and the end of their partnership. Their dance is a reminder and a celebration of our own mortality, and that of everything around us.
Artist biographies
Bertrand Lesca and Nasi Voutsas are two performance makers who met in 2015. Devising projects in an age of austerity, their work is stripped right back and sits somewhere between live art and theatre, but if you held them against a wall they would probably say it's theatre.
Recent recipients of the Forced Entertainment award, Bertrand and Nasi are two European theatre makers based in the UK. They have made five shows together that toured the world in prestigious venues and festivals such as the Adelaide International
Festival (Australia), Mostra Internacional de Teatro (Brazil), Festival de Otono (Spain) and PuSh Festival (Canada). Their shows are direct and emotional responses to the here and now of the world we’re living in.
Their most recent piece THE END received the Total Theatre Award in 2019. Bertrand Lesca and Nasi Voutsas are Associate Artists with MAYK and guest fellow artists with PACT Zollverein in Germany.
