Kate Craddock
Festival Director
Kate is based in Gateshead, and works as Senior Lecturer in Performing Arts at Northumbria University. Over the past few years she has been lucky enough to take part in a number of international theatre festivals in various parts of the world, and it was largely through these experiences that she decided that Gateshead and the North East deserved one too. So in 2011, Kate founded GIFT.
As a theatre maker, Kate has performed her one-woman show Hand me down at venues nationally and internationally, and is currently creating a new one woman show: The GB Project for performances throughout summer 2013. Kate is co-founder and co-director of mouth to mouth| international performance collective, and has performed at BAC, LIFT, Whitechapel Gallery, Northern Stage and Dublin Fringe Festival.
Kate is proud to be on the Board of Directors of ARC, Stockton Arts Centre, and of award winning theatre company The Paper Birds. In 2010 Kate completed a PhD exploring concepts of collaboration in performance practice, and Kate sees GIFT as one of the major outcomes of this research.
